Let's Make Some New Year's Resolutions for Sewing & Quilting!
Posted by equilterscorner on Monday, January 2nd, 2012
It is that time again...we have begun a new calendar year and can make a fresh start. A new year presents an opportunity to reevaluate priorities, set goals and make resolutions to achieve them in the coming year. Many of us make resolutions regarding our careers, work/life balance, fitness and/or weight loss objectives. Why not also make some resolutions regarding our sewing and quilting to help us remain focused and make the most of our crafty industriousness? We have thought of a few noteworthy resolutions that would be helpful for many of us to adopt - check out our list below and let us know if you have any other good suggestions too!
Sewing and Quilting Resolutions for 2012:
1) I resolve to replace my sewing machine needle every 6-8 hours of sewing time and to always use the appropriate needle for the task (no more breaking universal needles trying to sew denim!).
2) I resolve to regularly clean the lint and dust bunnies out of my bobbin case so I don't jam up the sewing mechanism and to take my trusty machine in to Quilters Corner for a thorough annual cleaning and tune up.
3) I resolve to finish at least one sewing or quilting project for every three that I start.
4) I resolve to always have an extra new rotary cutting blade on hand and to change the blade when it gets dull so that my fabric cuts evenly and I minimize strain on my cutting hand and wrist.
5) I resolve to complete at least one stash-busting project this year and to donate the finished product to a charitable organization so it can help warm and comfort someone in need (Quilt of Valor, ABC quilt, pillowcases for United Way, etc.).
All of us at Quilters Corner wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year and look forward to spending time with you in 2012!
