Finishing a Quilt Using Big Stitch

Several times each year Cyndi teaches a series of Beginning Quiltmaking classes and we are always very impressed with the beautiful quilt tops that students sew, which are often their first sewing projects ever!  One of Cyndi's former students, Louise, recently returned to show us her quilted project, which she completed using the big stitch quilting technique.  Big stitch is both an easy and lovely way to quilt - all you need is an embroidery needle, pearl cotton thread and a thimble!  The key to big stitch is to stitch even 1/4" stitches in straight line patterns.  It is fun to choose thread colors that contrast with your fabric - the thick pearl cotton thread and contrasting colors can really emphasize your quilting pattern, as shown in the fantastic sample below!
