Another 100 Pillowcases
Posted by equilterscorner on Friday, June 18th, 2010
We just delivered our second 100 pillowcases! Good job everyone. The second round went to the American Red Cross Friendship Center. The center is a "way station" for people who are seeking effective and safe ways to overcome life's obstacles. Single men and women, couples, families, teenagers, middle aged and seniors look to the Friendship Center staff for guidance during their time of need. The Center has always been a place where people could come and access Red Cross services from caring staff and gain support from others experiencing similar difficulties. Whether they are seeking shelter, food, assistance in finding a new place to live, help with obtaining social service benefits or mediation with a current landlord - Red Cross staff is there to help.
Below is a photo of John Ward, the director of the Homeless Services, Center staff and Meg Cole of United Way. The day we took the photo was 'dress down' day, where they all wear the Red Cross t-shirts. These shirts are sold to raise money for many worthy causes.
We would like to thank all of you for the work you've done in making the pillowcases. Just a reminder that we have free pillowcase fabric kits available at Quilters Corner for those of you who would like them.
