Show & Tell

Susie Wimer came in the other day with a fabulous applique quilt she has been working on.  She used actual leaves from the area for her patterns and has many varieties on the quilt.  We oohed and ahhed for quite a while.  We were all jealous of her tiny stitches as most of us are having trouble seeing these days without our reading glasses.

She doesn't have a name for the quilt yet, but we were encouraging her to start hand quilting right away to have it ready for our local guild's biennial show in 2011.

Below are some of the photos we snapped.  In the first one you'll see Susie on the left and appliquer of note, Elsie Dentes on the right in pink.  The second one has Sharon Stroud holding one end.  Sharon is also known for her meticulous hand work.  The third photo shows how she took her striped sashing and made quarter-square triangle units to make the stripe work.  The last two are just close ups of the beautiful quilt.

  • I'm Cyndi's cousin from California and have just seen this quilt online as I'm now in Florida. This quilt is a masterpiece in design let alone a treasure of handquilting. Would love to see it first hand...someday, maybe.
