Road Trip

Merrie, Sherry, Kristin and I decided to head up to QBL (Quilting By the Lake) and check out the show and vendors on Wed. After meeting at Kristin's house and checking out her new gorgeous bathroom, admiring the quilts on her beds and looking at her sewing room (she wins by the way), we headed up to Onondaga Community College. This is the first year the two week event has been held there and we were all excited to see the changes.
The show was wonderful. It has a lot of very contemporary art quilts and a selection of traditional style quilts. Our own Marilyn Belford is teaching this week and had three quilts on display. Her quilt with Medea on the dragon was unbelievable.
We ooh'd and ahh'd and shopped the vendors until we couldn't stand the hunger pangs anymore. Then we found a sandwhich shop on the way back right beside an ice cream joint. What a perfect world!
Kristin and I have vowed to take a class next year. I'm already planning what to take. The contemporary quilting may not be your thing, but learning something new with like-minded women is fun. There are always some traditional classes too. If you've never checked out QBL, it's worth doing.
